My diet philosophy is simple. No gimmicks, no restrictions, no food shaming.
1. Balance: I try to include a protein, fat, and carbohydrate at all of my meals and snacks.
Carbohydrates are your brain and cell energy
Fats help with vitamin absorption and provide back up energy
Protein helps build and repair muscle tissue
2. Variety: I try to choose a variety of fruits, vegetables, and I try to make half of my grains whole grains.
3. Moderation: Instead of focusing on what foods you CAN'T have (or SHOULDN'T have), focus on the positive! Set goals on trying a new fruit or vegetable a week, trying a vegetable that you dislike in a new preparation. find a new, fun way to get your 10,000 steps in for the day.
